Even
longtime residents can learn something from this guide. "Sanibel
& Captiva: A Guide to the Islands" is plenty informative,
covering everything from cultural and natural history to fishing,
restaurants, accommodations and recreation. This photo-filled
guide is also entertaining, with such nuggets as the "Top
10 Reasons to Marry a Shell Collector," what children have
to say about shelling, even a discussion of the fight to bar
McDonald's from Sanibel.

This

The
most comprehensive guide on the market. The book includes interviews
with residents and tourists about their favorite spots on the
islands. Lots of accommodation and dining information.

If you
have only one book on our islands this should be your choice.
It is the best travel guide written to date on our area. The
guide covers every aspect of sightseeing and recreation. In addition,
the softcover book contains color photos on nearly every page
which greatly enhance the text and perfectly illustrate the local
attractions for the tourist. As a local I immediately leafed
through to the section on restaurants and found an informative,
accurate description of the islands' favorites and more importantly
a few new ones I didn't know about.

Packed
with information. What really makes this book unique are the
personal interviews, legends, tall tales and short essays.

The
best, most useful and comprehensive source of information about
the islands.

We
live on Sanibel, and love it here. But we've noticed that many
visitors don't really know what to do. They go to the beach,
but don't know how to take advantage of it. They want to see
wildlife, but don't know where to look. They drive right past
the best restaurants; the places every islander loves. If they
only knew what they were missing! That's why we wrote this book;
so you don't miss out. So your days here are as fun and rewarding
as ours. This book gives you dozens of ideas on how to have fun
at the beach. You'll learn how to find the best shells and where
to go to see rare and endangered wildlife. We clue you in on
island hiking and biking, boating and fishing, museums and theaters.
Other chapters cover planning your trip, the history of the islands
and what it's like to live here. Throughout the book you'll also
find contributions from many other island residents, including
vacation tips, restaurant choices, even poems. In short, Sanibel
& Captiva: A Guide to the Islands is designed to help you
have the time of your life. - Julie and Mike Neal
